Royal Conservatory
The finest instrument is the mind!
The Royal Conservatory of Music is one of the largest and most respected music
education institutions in the world, providing the definitive standard of
excellence in curriculum design, assessment, performance training, teacher
certification, and arts-based social programs. The mission of The Royal
Conservatory—to develop human potential through leadership in music and the
arts—is based on the conviction that the arts are humanity’s greatest
means to achieve personal growth and social cohesion. Advancing the
transformative effect that music and the arts have on society lies at the
heart of everything The Royal Conservatory does. Increasingly, music and the
arts are also being recognized as crucial intellectual building blocks,
closely linked to cognitive functions such as brain and verbal-linguistic
development; spatial reasoning; complex problem solving in mathematics and
science; the development of emotional intelligence; interpersonal skills; and
self-expression. Since its inception in 1886, The Royal Conservatory has
translated the latest research on music and arts education into effective
programs benefiting millions of people around the world. The more than five
million alumni of The Royal Conservatory have enjoyed the many benefits of
music study and carried these benefits into subsequent careers in a wide range
of fields, including medicine, business, politics, education, science, and
sports. Others, such as Glenn Gould, Oscar Peterson, Diana Krall, Teresa
Stratas, Sir Roger Norrington, and Jon Vickers, have achieved international
musical acclaim. The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program provides a
recognized standard of musical achievement through an effectively sequenced
system of study and individual student assessments, from preparatory to
advanced levels. Considered the foremost music education system in Canada, the
United States, and many other countries around the world, its broad use has
bound together individuals from these nations with the thread of shared creative experiences.

Yes, we do them in May. We have to have a certain number of students enrolled
to hold the exams, otherwise they are cancelled.
The spring sign ups will be up on their website soon. Google “Music
Development Program” (They do not call it the Royal Conservatory in their
USA examinations) ( http://www.musicdevelopmentprogram.org/ )

I appreciate it if you can use the spreadsheet format, so that I won't have to

to the state on the spreadsheet.
Please Email your registration to me at lillian.martinez@usa.net ;
and mail your payment to the treasurer Martha V. Thank you for your cooperation.

THEORY CHANGES
------ Original Message ------
Received: 05:30 PM CDT, 06/14/2015
From: "Mary Adams"
Subject: Change starts Fall Theory/2016
HI members,
I just got back from Houston TMTA Convention. I took ‘TMTA-SA THEORY: UPDATE
SYLLABUS AND STUDENT MANUAL PRESENTATION workshop. Basically, all the changes
will be on TMTA website under Theory changes. The first change will be for
level 1-8 on Fall/2016. Then level 9 on Fall/2017, level 10 on Fall/2018;
level 11 on Fall/2019 and level 12 on Fall/2020.
You will have each level PRACTICE TESTS on Summer/2016. So you can use them to
show your students. They will not be selling any syllabus(manual) online or in
the stores. You will need to print it from the website. In the convention,
Beck Landreth presented each level updates (via PowerPoint) very fast. She
mentioned that Syllabus and Student Manual will be online in 2-3 days. Please,
go to website and read it/print it so you can better prepare your students
next year. Becky Landreth also said not to sell the sylabus/manual to your
students to make profit.
Again next fall Level 1-8 will have the changes. Levels 9-10-11-12 will be
gradually per year (read the first paragraph).
We can talk more about this in the next meeting in August.
Blessings,
Mary Adams

Subject: April 11 th Master Composer Festival - Deadline
To: Bluebonnet Music Teachers - I usually try to send a 'blind' copy.
However, I would appreciate feed back if I have left someone OFF my list.
Thank you
The DEADLINE for signing-up YOUR students for the
Master Composer Festival - Romantic/Contemporary FESTIVAL
IS 4 - weeks from today ON MARCH 10th -
The Festival will be on Saturday, April 11th , at the Steinway Gallery
March 10 IS ALSO OUR NEXT BLUEBONNET MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION MEETING!!!!
We trust that you will make every effort to be at the next meeting - WE NEED
YOU :-)
As you are filling out the Registration Form - PLEASE PRINT clearly the name /
correct spelling, etc.
Please fill out the form completely
1) name
2) age
3) how long the student has been studying
4) **AND THE TOTAL MINUTES OF HOW LONG EACH STUDENT WILL NEED!!
** THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT as I carefully make a schedule for the exact
minutes, etc....
5) There IS a place to request AM / PM
However, The request may not be able to be honored as it is a challenge
to place each student.
.............. Last year many of you just requested AM / PM and I tried
to work that out... but again
............... It might not be possible. Let parents know that you
will not know the times until the
the final schedule has been given to each teacher.
****Important! If you have a special circumstance - Ex: "A student is coming
from a Boy Scott Weekend
Could he play early and return to his camp" Then I
will try to work around and for that
student! AGAIN-make sure I know of these special
needs early !
AND Yes, You can send your Registration Form to me EARLIER than March 10 :-)
:-) :-)
Be sure to SEND YOUR CHECK to Martha Vallee (our Treasurer)

Subject: Theory Test PREMISES directions, map, and parking
Hello, All.
Please see below copy of info received from Amy at Texas State University.
See also the attached map I received from Amy.
She talks of "west side" and "west entrance". When you are talking to any
Guardians/Escorts who are unfamiliar with the Campus, you can give the
following further explanation if you think it will help. I know a couple
of my students were confused by which is "west" or not, since there is
apparently no signage (for example, no sign that says at the door "West
Entrance"). I explained it this way:
Avery Building (one of the two buildings on Campus) is the building nearest
to University Boulevard (which runs East and West). The front of the
building (and the front entrance, presumably called the "North Entrance")
is parallel to University Boulevard. So when one pulls into the driveway
of the Campus, the front (or "North Side") of the Entrance is going to be
straight ahead, and the "West Side" is going to be to the right. So the
best place to park will be the parking are on the right-hand side of Avery
Building (the first building you come to). And the "West Entrance" of
Avery Building is going to be the side entrance on that West Side of that
building near that parking area.
There are 2 or 3 of the Parking Kiosks near that parking area (see attached
picture) Based on the info provided by Amy ...
*Be sure to let your Guardians/Escorts know that these Kiosks apparently
only accept credit cards and/or debit cards - they apparently do not accept
cash!*
Thanks!

"... Attached please find a campus parking map. Perimeter Parking
(indicated on the map in PURPLE) are the lots the guests can park at after
they’ve purchased a permit.
I’ve also attached a picture of the pay-and-display kiosk from which people
can purchase the parking permits with a credit card or debit card.
It’s easy for people to park at the west side of the Avery Building and
enter the building from the west entrance. Once they’ve entered the Avery
Building, they will be automatically on the ground level (2nd floor). We
will set up signage to direct the guests to their designated rooms on the
3rd floor. ..."

THEORY
Form
Please inform the members of Bluebonnet that I will be designing a new Theory
Test Enrollment / Pre-registration form.
I am planning to use excel (rather than the pdf format previously used) -
similar to the S.A. format. That way I can copy and paste the information.
Also, there will be new information requested on that form (as per the
consensus reached at the November meeting) - facilitating implementation of
the new requirement that parents (and/or legal guardians) of any student
participant under 18 must be present (or must provide written permission for
another designated adult to be present) at the registration desk for drop-off
and pick-up of student participants and must provide emergency contact phone
number. (Specifics of this and the other changes will be forthcoming).
Thanks!
