DECEMBER PERFORMANCE

There will be no monthly meeting in December. We will instead have a
performance at a nursing home.

Dec. 8 has been registered with Wesleyan Retirement Homes.

Assisted Home at 2:00 and Independent Home at 3:00.

Students should play at least 1 piece if it's long and two or 3 if short.

Please let me know how many you plan to bring . Please plan to support
Bluebonnet and bring some students to play at both recitals. Same ones ,of
course, can play in both.

SPRING THEORY

The spring theory test will be February 8. The registration deadline has been
updated. It will be January 7. Please correct your yearbook.

November minutes


MINUTES

The monthly meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held Tuesday November 12 at Velocity Music Academy in Cedar Park.
Present were Al, Mary A and Lillian.

Al complained about SA and theory charges. Mary A and Lillian explained that
charges were not excessive.

Mary explained that teachers need to set high standards and require theory.
Mary A handed out an article from American Music Teacher about teachers
needing to require high standards. American Music Teachers October/November
2013, The Headwinds of Entropy, page 64.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  Good morning, Dear Teachers,
Premier Music Academy is hosting an Honor Recital for recognizing the talented
student. The recital is open to all area music teacher's studios.
Here is additional info:
The purpose of the Honors Recital is to provide recognition to talented and
motivated students who can prepare for auditions superbly and are confident
enough to perform their pieces in a formal public setting. The Honors Recital
exists to promote classical music through the development of musicianship,
technique and performance to the highest level possible. Students must earn
this special honor through diligent practice, attention to technique and
artistry, and a repertoire in classical music. Students must be nominated by
their teachers for the performance opportunity. The Honors Recital is open to
pianist, vocalist, violinist, flutist, and guitarist. The Honors Recital is
open to all local teacher's music studios. Please submit the application.
Students desiring to participate in the Honors Recital must have a minimum of
two years of private lesson study with a minimal classical music study
repertoire. The Honors Recital is held in the spring.

MONTHLY MEETING

The next general meeting will be on Tuesday October 1 at Velocity Music Academy at 8:30 am.
Scott Donald will speak about how to prepare students for festivals.  This covers an essential aspect of what we do.
Scott is a well trained and experienced pedagogue. Please plan to attend.  This will enable your students.

THEORY TEST

The mailing instructions in the theory instructions page in the yearbook has been updated. 

The new instruction is to mail the registration to the chairman Mary Adams,
 and the payment and a copy of the registration to Treasurer Martha Vallee.


SA REGISTRATION

Students who take the fall theory exam must be registered in Student Affiliate by October 1.
 Please turn in your registration in electronic format to SA chairman Lillian Simmons.

 just highlight the cells you want to print,
 go to Print, and then select Print Selected Cells.

Minutes of September Meeting


BLUEBONNET MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION



MINUTES OF MEETING


The general monthly meeting of the Bluebonnet Music Teachers Association was held on September 10 at Velocity Music Academy in Cedar Park.


THEORY

Martha M recommended the Just the Facts theory books. 

 Mary A announced that students in school grade 4 or higher may take the theory test at level 2, and this is the minimum level that they may take.

Students must join SA before taking the theory test.


YEARBOOK

We will not pass out free copies of the yearbook this year.
You may print your own copy. Ask Lillian for the electronic copy.
If you would like a printout, I can print you a copy for $10.

EVENTS

The judge for the fall festival will be Buffy Currens.  It has been confirmed.

The Christmas concert will be held at Wesleyan nursing home in Georgetown.  It will be on a Sunday afternoon, date to be announced. The repertoire may be any type of music.

MINUTES OF MEETING




The general monthly meeting was held at Velocity Music Academy on April 9,
2013.

Present were Mary A, Mary L, Lillian S, Diane W, Martha V, Martha M, Al S,
Karen R.

The Treasurer gave a brief treasurer's report.


THEORY ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION

Al said it's a great idea to make them write music songs they like.


SCHEDULING FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR

Tentatively, the next meeting will be held the second Tuesday of May, May 14
at 11:00 am at Texas Land and Cattle Company in Cedar Park. Bring your
discarded sheet music for the music exchange and sale. There will be no
meeting at 8:30 am. Texas Land and Cattle, 14010 N Hwy 183, Lakeline Location
The Honors Recital which had been scheduled for Saturday June 1 at 2:30 is
changed to Saturday June 1 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.


PLANS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

The fall festival will be a closed audition. The spring festival will be an
open audition. One piece will be required according to the subject of the
festival. The other piece will be a piece of student's choice.
Tentative subjects of the auditions are Baroque and Classical for fall, and
Romantic and Contemporary for spring.
Tentatively, the fall festival will be held at Steinway Piano Gallery in
mid-November, Saturday 16 April.

Tentatively the theory test will be the first week in November and the spring
test will be the first week in February.
Tentatively we will have a Christmas recital at Wesleyan Retirement Home.

Minutes of general meeting



INTRODUCTORY REMARKS

The general meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held on March 19 at Velocity Music
Academy in Cedar Park. In attendance were Martha M, Martha V, Al S, Lillian
S, Mary A.

New member Al S was introduced and welcomed.

Treasurer Martha V made a treasurer's report.

Graded theory tests were distributed to teachers.


UPCOMING EVENTS

Festival
Festival chair Martha M announced that she needs monitors for the
Sonatina/Sonata festival. The shifts are 10:00-11:30, 1:00-3:00 and
3:00-5:00. She distributed certificate forms. Mail your
students' critique sheets to Martha M.

Honors Recital
Martha M announced that all students with Superior and Superior plus ratings
from all Bluebonnet 2012-13 school year festivals and all ensembles are
eligible to perform at the Honors Recital June 1.

Ensemble
The ensemble rehearsals are tentatively planned on Sundays in May at Velocity
Music Academy.  Ensemble stipends will be $50.


NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

Martha M announced that she needs volunteers to help prepare next school
year's yearbook.

Martha M announced that we need chairmen for next school year's festivals.

Mary A agreed to be theory chairman next school year.

Martha V agreed to be treasurer next school year.

The fall festival for next school year is tentatively planned for the first
weekend in November.


UPCOMING MEETINGS

The next meeting will be Tuesday April 9 at Velocity Music Academy in Cedar
Park. Bring your old music for a music exchange and sale. At this meeting we
will have a round table discussion about ideas from teachers' studios. We
will also discuss studio theory practices.

The May meeting will include a luncheon. Let Martha M know if you have any
suggestions for location.

Minutes of February Meeting






The monthly meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held on February 12 at 8:30 am at
Velocity Music Academy.

In attendance were Mary L, Mary A, Dianne W, Martha M, Lillian S.

President Martha M went over the planned events for this school year.

The Winners' Recital will be held on Saturday June 1, 2013 at Steinway Piano Gallery, at 2:00 pm.

 New member Diane W was introduced.

Martha M and Lillian S explained the Piano Guild. The dates of the next Guild

ENSEMBLES FOR CONVENTION

The Ensembles of the Bluebonnet and Austin affiliates of the Texas Music
Teachers Association will perform at the State Convention in Dallas in
midJune
.
Students who have passed their theory tests may participate.
Students are required to attend local rehearsals on Saturdays in May, and
perform with the group at the state convention. It is awesome to see these
groups performing on eight grand pianos. This would make a nice family
vacation.
The registration deadline is January 18 .

JANUARY MEETING

The next general meeting will be on Tuesday, January 8 at 8:30 am at
International Studio of Music in Round Rock. The program will be a showing of
the DVD Freeing the Caged Bird--developing well-coordinated injury preventive
technique, by Barbara Lister-Sink. The program will be followed by a business

THEORY PRICE

Please correct the price of the spring theory test in the yearbook. It should
read $15.


SPRING FESTIVAL

The date for the spring festival has been confirmed. It will be held at
Steinway Piano Gallery on Saturday, March 30 from 10:00 to 5:00 pm.


END OF SCHOOL YEAR RECITAL

The winners' recital will be held at Steinway Piano Gallery on Saturday, June
1 from 2:30 to 5:00.
