Addendum to Minutes

BLUEBONNET MTA


Dear Teachers:


ADDENDUM TO MINUTES

At the November meeting it was decided to set the following registration
dates
for Theory test.
The registration deadline for the Spring Theory test is January 14.
The Student Affiliate registration deadline for students who will take the
theory test is December 15.
Update your yearbook. The on line yearbook has been updated.

About the request received to test students registered in ADMTA SA.
Dianne motioned, and Al seconded the motion that the teacher be required to
monitor.
It was decided that the teacher does not have to join Bluebonnet MTA.

Minutes of Meeting

BLUEBONNET MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION


Dear Teachers:

The regular monthly meeting was held at Panera Bread on November 11, 2014.
Present were Martha M, Martha V., Al, Lillian and Dianne.
If you missed the meeting, we missed you. Check our newsletters at

great meeting.


RESOLUTIONS

Al did some research into state theory guidelines.
It was Resolved that:
All will be the Theory Chairman for the spring theory test.

Dianne motioned and Al seconded the motion that
The fall theory test will not be cancelled even if there is small
registration. And the test will be conducted in a formal atmosphere.
The motion passed unanimously.


NOTES

Details about conducting the theory test were discussed and approved. Al will
write up the details.

Al will look into organizing a Bluebonnet recital at the Georgetown Library in
February.

The ensemble rehearsals will be in May on Saturdays at 4:00 to 5:00 pm. at
Velocity Music Academy in Cedar Park.

Al requested that he be notified by phone of time sensitive matters.

The general meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held at Panera Bread on October 14
at 8:30 am. Present were Martha M, Martha V, Dianne, and Lillian.

IT WAS RESOLVED THAT

Starting next school year, if the fall theory registrations don't cover
expenses due to insufficient enrollment, the fall theory test will be
canceled.


NOTES

Martha M will prepare the fall festival certificates.
Dianne will be the ribbon captain for the fall festival.
The January meeting will be held at Velocity Music Academy.
Lillian will bring juice to the January meeting.
Martha M will bring pastries to the January meeting.
The ensemble rehearsals will be held on Saturday afternoons in May.
Lillian checked the SA schedule from the TMTA, and the TMTA SA registration
ends in February. So the Bluebonnet SA late registration will end February 1.
The on line yearbook has been updated. Please update your yearbook.

Minutes of September Meeting

Dear Teachers:


MINUTES OF MEETING

The monthly meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held on September 9 at Panera
Bread. Present were Mary L, Martha V, Martha M, Dianne, Lillian, Stephanie,
Sarah.


IT WAS RESOLVED

That the SA registration fee will increase to $17 on September 15 of next
school year.

That  next school year pieces for festivals by Great Masters must be originals,
and the second or students' choice piece may be an arrangement.

That there will be no meeting or event in December.

The deadline for Ensemble registration has been changed to February 1. Please
update your year book.

New bylaws were approved to comply with state mandates.


ANNOUNCEMENTS

Teachers should know by January which of their students will be participating
in ensemble.

Please advise your students who will be taking the theory test that all
vehicles are mandated to display a parking permit on campus with no
exceptions. A daily permit costs $3/vehicle and can be purchased at a pay and
display kiosk.

Mary Lee's daughter Eunice Lee is an accomplished pianist, she is 15 years
old, and she is accepting students for a low fee at Velocity Music Academy.
Refer your students who can pay low fees.

Minutes March 2014


The monthly meeting was held at Velocity Music Academy on March 18. Present
were Lillian, Martha M, Martha V, Al, Mary A, Dianne, Stephanie.


IT WAS RESOLVED THAT:

1.
Students will get trophies for festivals. Students must collect twelve points
to get a trophy.
An Excellent rating is worth 1 point,
a Superior minus is worth 2 points,
a Superior is worth 3 points,
a Superior plus is worth 4 points.
The trophies will be engraved Great Composers Festival, Bluebonnet MTA,
student name, year.
Festival chairs must keep records of student ratings.
The points will start accruing next school year.

2.
Ensembles students will get a $50 stipend this year. The checks will be
handed out at the recital. The checks will be accompanied by a letter
announcing the stipend and stating that this stipend was approved for this
school year only.


NOTES

Mary A said she would like to be in charge of judges next school year.
Martha M reported that she has confirmed reservations at Steinway for recital
and festival.
Martha M will deliver certificates to teachers. Teachers must complete
students' names. Mary A. will send certificate template to teachers.
For musicianship, the minor scales should be harmonic. Martha M will prepare
instructions.

Minutes of February meeting




Minutes of meeting of Bluebonnet MTA

The general meeting was held at Velocity Music Academy on February 18.
Present were Martha M, Dianne,Al, and Lillian.


ENSEMBLES

Martha M gave a presentation about ensembles. There will be two ensembles.
One for levels primer through 2, and one for levels 3 through 10.
The elementary level piece will be Arabian Nights , Famous & Fun Pop Duets
book 3 by Carol Matz, by Alfred,
The advanced piece will be I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables by Boublil
and Schonberg's by Hal Leonard Piano duets Vol 14.
Pieces must be memorized by May 1. Bluebonnet MTA may provide a scholarship
for an interested student who needs financial help. Parents convention badges
are available for about $15 per person through chairman Martha Marks.


SPRING FESTIVAL

Musicianship will be required for the Spring Festival. The musicianship
requirements are at http://bluebonnetmta.org/festivals.html The festival
auditions will be open auditions, so adult relatives only may enter the
adjudication room. The registration deadline is March 26. Please update the
registration deadline in your yearbook. No flash photographs will be
allowed.


RESOLUTION

It was resolved that:
The yearbook will be published next school year in the website without the
teachers' emails and addresses.


NOTES

The next meeting will be Tuesday March 11 at Velocity Music Academy at 8:30
am.
Martha M will prepare a sheet listing fees for events for next year's
yearbook.

Meeting announcement February


BLUEBONNET MTA


Dear Teachers:


NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be on Tuesday February 11 at Velocity Music Academy in
Cedar Park at 8:30 am.

We will have an Ensembles presentation by Chairman Martha Marks.
The Ensembles of Bluebonnet MTA will perform at the 2014 State Convention in
Houston in midJune .
Students who have passed their theory tests may participate.
Ensemble Chair: Martha Marks
Students are required to attend mandatory rehearsals,
perform with the group in a local honors recital in June,
perform with the group at the state convention. It is awesome to see these
groups performing on eight grand pianos. This would make a nice family
vacation. Rehearsals are Sundays in Cedar Park in May. The registration
deadline is in February .

Good morning members,
Our Spring Theory test is on February/8th from 8am to 2pm at Texas State
University ( http://www.rrc.txstate.edu/about/sites.html ) Round Rock. I will
have all the volunteers coming as early as 7:30am (the university door will
be open by that time). Students will start arriving at 7:45am. ... Below is
the time for each level. I won’t be able to give any
make-ups this time. Students need to come at their assigned time. Please, no
exceptions.

8am to 10am = Levels 1, 4 and 7

10am to 12pm = Levels 2, 5 and 8

12pm to 2m = Levels 3, 6, 9 and 10.

I have one more file to send to the volunteers (theory test monitor duties).
I need to scan it and send it to you but my fax machine is broken. I will
send
it before the test day for sure.

Our general meeting was held Tuesday January 14 at 8:30 am at Velocity
Music Academy in Cedar Park. Present were Mary A, Lillian, Dianne, Martha V,
and Al.

It was resolved that:

Q - Theory nonmember charges for next school year?
A - Only Bluebonnet MTA members can sign up students for theory test.

Q - SA late charges for next school year?
A - Late SA registration will start October 1, and will be $17 per student.
There will be no $5 per teacher late charge.

Q - Composition chairman?
A - A minimum of two teachers participating is necessary. There will be no
composition contest this year.

Q - Target spring festival date for next school year?
A - We will try for first week in April.

Q - Substitute monitor. Are advanced students allowed to monitor? Or parents?
A - Only Bluebonnet members may substitute.

Q - SA deadlines?
A - Next school year, deadlines for SA registration for students who take
theory test are October 1 for fall theory, and January 1 for spring theory.


Other Items

The ensemble flyer from the Ensemble Chairman was passed out.

It was agreed that students must stay in the theory test room at least 45
minutes.



Notes

Mary A said she will email a list of original pieces of great composers at
primer level.

Mary A reported that 80 students are registered for spring theory test.

The March meeting will be Tuesday March 4.

Meeting announcement February


The next meeting will be on Tuesday February 18 at Velocity Music Academy in
Cedar park at 8:30 am.

We will have an Ensembles presentation by Chairman Martha Marks. Registration
deadline is Tuesday February 25.
The Ensembles of the Bluebonnet affiliate of the Texas Music Teachers
Association will perform at the 2014 State Convention in Houston in midJune .
Students who have passed their theory tests may participate.
Ensemble Chair: Martha Marks
Students are required to attend mandatory local rehearsals in May,
perform with the group in a local recital,
perform with the group at the state convention. It is awesome to see these
groups performing on eight grand pianos. This would make a nice family
vacation. Rehearsals are Sundays in Cedar Park in May.
