Meeting announcement February
BLUEBONNET MTA
Dear Teachers:
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be on Tuesday February 11 at Velocity Music Academy in
Cedar Park at 8:30 am.
We will have an Ensembles presentation by Chairman Martha Marks.
The Ensembles of Bluebonnet MTA will perform at the 2014 State Convention in
Houston in midJune .
Students who have passed their theory tests may participate.
Ensemble Chair: Martha Marks
Students are required to attend mandatory rehearsals,
perform with the group in a local honors recital in June,
perform with the group at the state convention. It is awesome to see these
groups performing on eight grand pianos. This would make a nice family
vacation. Rehearsals are Sundays in Cedar Park in May. The registration
deadline is in February .

Subject: BLU MTA/TMTA Spring Theory tests time, directions and informations
Good morning members,
Our Spring Theory test is on February/8th from 8am to 2pm at Texas State
University ( http://www.rrc.txstate.edu/about/sites.html ) Round Rock. I will
have all the volunteers coming as early as 7:30am (the university door will
be open by that time). Students will start arriving at 7:45am. ... Below is
the time for each level. I won’t be able to give any
make-ups this time. Students need to come at their assigned time. Please, no
exceptions.
8am to 10am = Levels 1, 4 and 7
10am to 12pm = Levels 2, 5 and 8
12pm to 2m = Levels 3, 6, 9 and 10.
I have one more file to send to the volunteers (theory test monitor duties).
I need to scan it and send it to you but my fax machine is broken. I will
send
it before the test day for sure.

Minutes of meeting January 2014
BLUEBONNET MTA
MINUTES OF MEETING
For members
Our general meeting was held Tuesday January 14 at 8:30 am at Velocity
Music Academy in Cedar Park. Present were Mary A, Lillian, Dianne, Martha V,
and Al.
It was resolved that:
Q - Theory nonmember charges for next school year?
A - Only Bluebonnet MTA members can sign up students for theory test.
Q - SA late charges for next school year?
A - Late SA registration will start October 1, and will be $17 per student.
There will be no $5 per teacher late charge.
Q - Composition chairman?
A - A minimum of two teachers participating is necessary. There will be no
composition contest this year.
Q - Target spring festival date for next school year?
A - We will try for first week in April.
Q - Substitute monitor. Are advanced students allowed to monitor? Or parents?
A - Only Bluebonnet members may substitute.
Q - SA deadlines?
A - Next school year, deadlines for SA registration for students who take
theory test are October 1 for fall theory, and January 1 for spring theory.
Other Items
The ensemble flyer from the Ensemble Chairman was passed out.
It was agreed that students must stay in the theory test room at least 45
minutes.
Notes
Mary A said she will email a list of original pieces of great composers at
primer level.
Mary A reported that 80 students are registered for spring theory test.
The March meeting will be Tuesday March 4.

Meeting announcement February
The next meeting will be on Tuesday February 18 at Velocity Music Academy in
Cedar park at 8:30 am.
We will have an Ensembles presentation by Chairman Martha Marks. Registration
deadline is Tuesday February 25.
The Ensembles of the Bluebonnet affiliate of the Texas Music Teachers

updated. It will be January 7. Please correct your yearbook.

November minutes
MINUTES
The monthly meeting of Bluebonnet MTA was held Tuesday November 12 at Velocity Music Academy in Cedar Park.
Present were Al, Mary A and Lillian.
Al complained about SA and theory charges. Mary A and Lillian explained that
charges were not excessive.
Mary explained that teachers need to set high standards and require theory.
Mary A handed out an article from American Music Teacher about teachers
needing to require high standards. American Music Teachers October/November
2013, The Headwinds of Entropy, page 64.

Good morning, Dear Teachers,
Premier Music Academy is hosting an Honor Recital for recognizing the talented
student. The recital is open to all area music teacher's studios.
Here is additional info:
The purpose of the Honors Recital is to provide recognition to talented and
motivated students who can prepare for auditions superbly and are confident
enough to perform their pieces in a formal public setting. The Honors Recital
exists to promote classical music through the development of musicianship,
technique and performance to the highest level possible. Students must earn
this special honor through diligent practice, attention to technique and
artistry, and a repertoire in classical music. Students must be nominated by
their teachers for the performance opportunity. The Honors Recital is open to
pianist, vocalist, violinist, flutist, and guitarist. The Honors Recital is
open to all local teacher's music studios. Please submit the application.
Students desiring to participate in the Honors Recital must have a minimum of
two years of private lesson study with a minimal classical music study
repertoire. The Honors Recital is held in the spring.
